Here’s How To Safely Clean Your Laptop

We don’t forget to use our laptop but we often forget to clean them. Well you have to think of your systems too and tips like these will help your laptop sparkle, remain in good form and thus prolong the life of your device.

Laptop parts to be cleaned:

The five general components that must be cleaned are the case, the LCD screen, the laptop keyboard (and touchpad), the ports, and the cooling vents.

If you think you’re comfortable seeing the “behind of a laptop”, you can open the laptop and clean its cooling system. This can solve most problems such as overheating, laptop abruptly shutting down etc . Also, don’t forget to refer the laptop manufacturer’s manual for the recommended procedure for laptop cleaning.

Materials
You’ll need the following things to clean your laptop: -Isopropyl alcohol (Quickly evaporates, leaving no traces on the surface) -Distilled / purified water/ bottled water -Can of compressed air -Lint-free cloth, like the kind used for cleaning eyeglasses.

First switch off the computer and remove its battery. Prepare a 1:1 cleaning solution using water and alcohol mix. Dip the cloth in the same so that it is slightly moistened. Do not bring the liquid in direct contact with the screen; only the cloth is to be used for this purpose.

Clean the Laptop Case
Use the damp cloth clean the laptop. This will help in removing the settled dust.

Clean the LCD Screen
Display can also be cleaned using the same cloth or a newly moistened one if the original one has already turned grimy .Using gentle circular motions wipe the screen from left to right or top to bottom.

Clean the Keyboard and Touchpad
A can of compressed air helps in loosening and removing all kinds of dirt and particles that may be stuck between the keys. You can also turn the laptop upside down and gently shake it to remove any loose debris, running your fingers over and between the keys. Remove individual keys and wipe with a cotton swab dipped in the solution if your keyboard is very dirty. For those keyboards with inbuilt drains, distilled water can be poured into the keyboard and left to air-dry. Finally, use the damp cloth to wipe the keys and the touchpad.

Clean the Ports and Cooling Vents
Compressed air also finds its use while cleaning case openings such as the ports and cooling vents. Make sure that the angle you pick blows the debris away from the computer, rather than into it.

Also, do not spray into the fans too hard as liquid may get stuck between the fan blades. To prevent the fans from over spinning while you’re blowing the air on them (which can damage the fans), place a cotton swab or toothpick between them to hold them in place.
